Samsung Galaxy A21s is among the cheapest among Samsung’s 2020 A series. What makes the A21s stand out is the mammoth 5,000mAh battery and the fact that it runs on the Exynos 850 processor.

Samsung Galaxy A21s Launch Date And Price

The Galaxy A21s was released in India on May 15, 2020.

Galaxy A21s Design And Display

There is nothing new or special with the design of Samsung Galaxy A21s, just the usual features we would expect from Samsung’s mid-range smartphones. The phone features a plastic back with a gradient finish. There are no patterns nor engravings on the rear.

On the other side, the phone sports a 6.5-inch LCD display with a punch hole on the left. Sharpness isn’t something you should expect with this kind of panel. It gets the job done but an OLED would have been much better.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s has a fingerprint sensor on the back. Samsung has improved the accuracy and responsiveness of the sensor greatly but the usual drawback is still present, you have to pick the phone up to unlock it.

Is Samsung Galaxy A21s waterproof? Well, we have no IP rating here so don’t count on that.

Galaxy A21s Camera

Samsung Galaxy A21s has a quad-camera setup on the back. This number might sound impressive but the macro and depth cameras have only 2MP each, so they aren’t as good as those on more expensive A-series phones.

Despite the limited resolution, the depth snapper does a good job blurring the background of bokeh pictures.

However, the same can’t be said about the macro camera. The fixed-focus lens means you will usually get out-of-focus photos.

The main camera packs 48MP and works great in daylight, producing vibrant and detailed pictures. The dynamic range is decent too.

However, that performance is for daytime only. In dimly-lit environments, most details will be lost and noise becomes frustratingly visible.

Much like the A41 and A31, there is no Night Mode on the Samsung Galaxy A21s so even if you want to, you can’t manually adjust anything to improve picture quality.

The ultra-wide lens is handy but it can’t produce anything more than an average picture.

On the other side, you can take selfies with the 16MP snapper, which offers enough details and colors.

However, in low light conditions, details are completely lost and noise is excessive – the kind of performance anyone would expect with the budget phone.

Galaxy A21s Performance

Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy A21s runs on Exynos 850 and you have to prepare for stutter and lag with almost everything you want to do, from opening apps to go back to the Home screen.

When you follow a link inside an app, sometimes you will have to wait for up to two seconds for the phone to open the browser. If you want a smartphone for work, look elsewhere as the A21s is just too slow for anything important. This issue is seen on both the 3GB and 4GB variants. Samsung Galaxy A21s 64GB onboard storage should be enough for average use.

For gamers who don’t want too much from graphics, the Samsung Galaxy A21s can handle PUBG and Call of Duty just fine, as long as you go for the minimum settings.

Simpler games like Monument Valley or Clash of Clans run smoothly on this phone, the performance you can expect from any smartphones nowadays.

Galaxy A21s Software

Samsung Galaxy A21s is the first phone from Samsung that runs the Core version of One UI 2.1. The word “Core” here means it has only the most basic features, much like what you have with the Galaxy M series.

Here are what you won’t see on the A21s, Secure Folder, Always On Display, and One UI 2.0’s screen recorder.

Galaxy A21s Battery Life

Thanks to the efficient Exynos 850, the Galaxy A21s can last to the second day with ease. It’s impossible to drain the phone in one day even under heavy usage. The long battery life is arguably the most impressive feature the phone has.

Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy A21s features 15W fast charging so you can top up the massive battery from zero to full in around two hours.

If you care a lot about how long your phone lasts, the Galaxy A21s is something you should definitely check out. However, if Samsung launches the Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M21 where you live, you should go for these two instead to get batter value for money. Or you can take a look at the A31 if it is available.

Overall, if you ask us “Is Samsung galaxy a21s a good phone?” the answer is yes if you like a long-lasting battery and something that can take decent pictures.
