Even though the 2018 model is a newer generation, but it still has some drawbacks compared to the 2017 model and quite a few similarities to the 2016 model. However, being a more recent model, it is still in a tier above in several departments. Check out our comparison to find out what they are. Let’s start with the Samsung A7 price in India.

You can see that the Samsung a7 price in India is lower for the newer generation. That is probably because of the more diverse mobile portfolio of Samsung India and also more competition from Chinese brands.

Design:

In terms of design, all three models share the same build material, which is glass and metal. However, the design is quite different. The 2016 model follows the square-shaped approach, while Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 and 2018 have curved edges on the side.

You can see the detailed comparison in the hardware configurations of three Galaxy A7 models. First, the display size increases in the newer generations, but not too significant. While the 2016 and 2017 models have a sizeable bezel at the top and bottom, the Galaxy A7 2018 has a much thinner top bezel and bottom chin. Software-wise, only the A7 2018 is upgradable to the relatively new Android 9 Pie, while the other two stuck at Android 7 and Android 8.

Performance-wise, the 2018 version is also the best of all, thanks to the Exynos 7884 SoC and up to 6GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the other two mobile phones seem to be at a similar performance level.

However, the A7 2018 comes with a massive downgrade in the battery. Its battery is not only the same as the A7 2016, but it also doesn’t support fast charging. Meanwhile, the two older generations support 18W fast charging technology. Moreover, the 2018 version only has a micro-USB port while the 2017 model comes with the newer USB Type-C port.

Camera:

In the camera department, the Samsung A7 2016 should be the worst of all while the Galaxy A7 2018 has the best camera setup. The 2016 model only has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. The Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 is slightly better with a 16MP rear camera and a 16MP selfie camera. Obviously, higher resolution doesn’t necessarily mean that that camera is better. However, we already tested both smartphones’ cameras when they were launched and we believe that the A7 2017’s cameras are slightly better, especially in low-light conditions.

A7 2016 vs A7 2017: Do you like the newer generation more?

As for the Galaxy A7 2018, it is in a tier above its predecessors. On the front, it gets a 24MP selfie camera in comparison to the 5MP unit on the A7 2016 and the 16MP unit on the A7 2017. However, the significant difference lies in the rear camera setup. Unlike its predecessor with a single rear camera, the A7 2018 boasts a triple camera cluster at the back. The setup includes a 24MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Conclusion:

The Galaxy A7 2018 is overall a better choice among the three. The 2018 version has a much better rear camera setup, selfie camera, more powerful chipset, up to 8GB of RAM and its storage can be expanded up to 1TB. However, the 2017 model is packed with a larger battery and fast charging support, which the 2018 model lacks. The Galaxy A 2016 is obviously the worst option of the three. However, it still a decent smartphone with an acceptable chipset, cameras, and its price is much more affordable than it once was. Considering the Samsung A7 Price in India for all three versions, the 2018 model is also the best choice.

Therefore, the Galaxy A7 2016 and 2017 are not bad choices by any mean. They are still a decent smartphone if you don’t need a strong chipset for gaming and good cameras to take photos. If you are on a tight budget, they should be a great choice. However, if you can stretch your budget a little bit, the newer Galaxy A model like Galaxy A51 or Galaxy A71 should still a better option. Samsung India already offer these two phones in the country. You can also take budget and mid-range offerings from rivals of Samsung in India like Realme, Redmi, Vivo, Oppo, and more.
