OnePlus's brand ambassador Robert Downey Jr. actor has blamed his assistant for using Huawei P30 Pro to post on Weibo account instead of OnePlus 7 Pro.

Robert Downey Jr. was roped in by OnePlus as the brand ambassador for OnePlus 7 Pro several months ago since the phone launch. This Hollywood A-lister owns an account on Weibo to stay in touch with the fans as well as advertise the OnePlus 7 lineup. However, several days ago, he unexpectedly forwarded a message on Weibo via a Huawei P30 Pro phone, which is known as one of the biggest rivals to the OnePlus 7 Pro. Immediately, the entire media outlets posted news related to this incident. And then, Downey Jr. had a new message on Weibo in an attempt of making light of this situation.

Accordingly, his Weibo post reads:

He posted this to try to diffuse the current situations as well as make light of the stupid mistake. And because Weibo site is a chat platform in China, this is clear that OnePlus get someone to post messages on the behalf of Downey Jr.

It began with a forwarded post on Weibo a few days ago when Weibo users detected that the message was posted by a Huawei P30 Pro instead of a OnePlus phone. Of course, the message on Downey Jr’s Weibo account was taken down immediately, but not before enough to prevent screenshots from being captured and spread in social networks. This became a big issue, which is the reason why OnePlus added a follow-up message to make an effort to and get ahead of this situation.

Certainly, it is not the 1st time that a brand ambassador or celebrities used a rival smartphone to publish public posts. For instance, Samsung’s Nigeria last year posted a tweet about the Galaxy Note 9 (Rs. 60,990) usin an iPhone.
