Some OnePlus 7 Pro owners recently reported seeing random notifications on their phones. This might sound like a hacking attempt, but it is actually not. OnePlus said that this was part of a test and these notifications were displayed by accident.
Some of the owners shared screenshots of notifications made up of English letters and other characters that make absolutely no sense to them.
On its official Twitter account, OnePlus said that the incident was a mistake and it should not have been there in the first place. If users tap on the notification, they will be transferred to a web browser along with a message that reads “Page not found.”
OnePlus said that the messages were results of a software test before the Android Q update, which is believed to be rolled out later this year.
The company also assured that people who received the notifications were under no risk of data theft and OnePlus would come up with solutions to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
These notifications are sent to a limited number of users only. So if you receive one, there is no need to freak out as OnePlus will fix this soon.
