OnePlus 7 price is from Rs. 32,000. Check out our detailed comparison to see if it's really worth upgrading from the old OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.

OnePlus finally unveils its next ‘flagship killer’ OnePlus 7 series. However, unlike last time when OnePlus only introduced the single OnePlus 6, now the brand brings two models which are OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro.

The Oneplus 7 cost in India is from Rs. 32,000 for the entry-level model. While the Pro model is truly a top-end device with interesting features, the OnePlus 7 cost stays closer to the older models with slightly upgrades.

So what the company brings in the OnePlus 7? Can it truly be an upgrade over the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T or it is better to stay with the two old handsets. Let’s find out in our comparison between the new OnePlus 7 and the last year’s OnePlus 6 + OnePlus 6T.

1. Price

The OnePlus 7 expected price was said to be higher than the OnePlus 6T as it is OnePlus tradition to increase the price of its handset after each generation. The OnePlus 7 price India is from Rs. 32,999 for the variant with 6GB of RAM + 128GB of storage. The top-end model with 8GB of RAM + 256GB of storage is priced at Rs. 37,999.

Meanwhile, the base option of the OnePlus 6 with 6GB RAM was offered for Rs. 34,999 at launch while the 8GB of RAM variant came with an Rs. 39,999 price tag.

On the other hand, the base variant of the OnePlus 6T is priced at Rs. 37,999 while the prices of the two top-end options with 8GB of RAM / 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM / 256GB of storage were Rs. 41,999 and Rs. 45,999, respectively.

You can clearly see that the expected price of the OnePlus 7 is higher than the actual price as people believed that the OnePlus 7 should come with a higher price tag than the OnePlus 6 and 6T. However, since the company introduced two models OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, the situation has changed.

Judging from the price alone, I would say the OnePlus 7 is the best option as it is easier to buy and the other models are pretty much out of stock at the moment. The Oneplus 7 mobile price in India is also more or less the same as the other two.

2. Design & Display

2.1. Design

Both OnePlus 6 and 6T come with a premium build quality. They have a glass on both front and back as well as a metal frame. OnePlus applies the same design on the OnePlus 7.

The notch on the new OnePlus 7 is slightly smaller than those of the OnePlus 6 and 6T. The new 6T & 7 models also have an on-screen fingerprint scanner while the older OnePlus 6 has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. However, the one on the OnePlus 7 is claimed to be faster than that of the OnePlus 6T due to further refinement.

Interestingly, all three OnePlus models are not waterproof certified and the brand explains that they don’t want to waste money on those certifications.

2.2. Display

As for the display, all three handsets sport an OLED panel with the OnePlus 6 having a 6.28-inch display and the other two both having a larger 6.41-inch screen. As mentioned, the OnePlus 7 should have the highest screen-to-body ratio as it has the biggest display size and the smallest notch.

With the largest notch, the OnePlus 6 has a 19:9 aspect ratio while the other two share the same aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

3. Camera

Both of the OnePlus 6 & 6T have a dual camera setup, including a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 20MP secondary snapper with f/1.7 aperture. The OnePlus 7 has a different camera setup with a 48MP primary camera with an f/1.7 lens and a secondary 5MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 lens.

The cameras on all three smartphones have PDAF and OIS on the primary camera. Therefore, OnePlus 7 has a slightly better rear camera setup over the other two.

On the front, both of the OnePlus 6 and 6T come with a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and fixed autofocus. Despite having better rear cameras, the recently-announced OnePlus phone has the same selfie camera as the other two phones with a 16MP selfie camera and an f/2.0 lens as well.

Obviously, these are just on paper, having a better or worse camera specifications doesn’t mean the phone delivers better or worse photos. It will also depend on software and other factors as well.

4. Hardware and software

4.1. Hardware

Both of the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC which was the flagship processor when they were first launched. The OnePlus 6 packs 6GB / 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage and it is the same for the OnePlus 6T.

The OnePlus 7 also has similar memory and RAM configurations, but it runs on the more powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC instead.

As for the battery, none of the three has support for wireless charging, even the latest OnePlus 7. Both of the older models have 20W fast charging support and it is the same case for the OnePlus 7.

Only the latest Pro version has the fast 30W Warp Charge solution. In terms of battery capacity, the two newer OnePlus 6T and 7 share the same 3,700mAh battery while OnePlus only packs a 3,300 mAh battery on the OnePlus 6.

4.2. Software

In terms of software, there is no difference among the three since they all run Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS 9 developed by OnePlus.

5. Verdict

It seems like the latest OnePlus variant is only a slightly upgraded model of the OnePlus 6T. It only has some improvements in hardware like faster Snapdragon 855 SoC, a 48MP sensor, and speaker. However, with the price of OnePlus 7, I would say it is still a great choice with great features.

If you are currently using a OnePlus 6 or 6T, it would be better to either go straight to the OnePlus 7 Pro or just keep using the old devices. Personally, I wouldn’t advise you to go for such minor upgrades like that.

However, the Snapdragon 855 SoC is still a decent reason for you to upgrade you use a lot of CPU-intensive apps or use it for gaming purposes.

If you are looking for a major upgrade from the old phones then go for it. The OnePlus 7 price in India is from Rs. 32,000 for the base model with 6GB of RAM / 128GB of storage which is the OnePlus 7 best price. In addition the price of Oneplus 7 in India for the 8GB RAM / 256GB of storage is Rs. 37,000.
