iPhone XS Max Survived A 530-foot Drop Through A Nuclear Tower

A recent iPhone's duarability test showcased an iPhone XS Max dropped from a 530-foot tall nuclear tower, the phone landed almost unharmed.

Ukaranian-American Taras Maximuk who lives in California and owns a Youtube channel has recently tested the iPhone XS Max durability.

In his videos, Maximuk focuses on damaging technology, especially smartphones. In the most recent video he posted, the Youtuber took his XS Max to a special place.

Maximuk had the intention to conduct a drop test on his iPhone XS Max, but the test must have a cool twist. So, with that in mind, he went to an abandoned 530-foot tall cooling tower for a nuclear power plant (equal to 159 meters), bringing along an iPhone XS Max tied to a drone with fishing string. He flew the phone into the air and dropped it straight down from the top of the tower. Notably, he turned on the camera to record the whole process.

The video is freaking sick, especially when you can experience the drop from the phone’s view.

Now, the best part stands at the end of the video where the Apple’s flagship seems unharmed from the severe drop and the video is still recording. The phone’s corners are undamaged, and we can barely see any scratch on its back. The only thing shattered is the display; yet, the phone is still in one piece.

That’s pretty awesome till you think this through.

Despite being dropped from 159-meter height, the handset landed on what seems a lot like a muddy ground. With this kind of surface, major shock would be absorbed and distributed, resulting in only the display shattered.

In fact, a cement or concrete surface is solid, so it doesn’t take such a significant drop to destroy your iPhone. Other drop tests conducted with concrete illustrated that the new iPhone cannot handle the solid ground with the screen shattered from just about three-foot height.

Anyway, watching an iPhone dive through a nuclear tower is undeniably cool.
