iPhone 11 Pro Max With Smallest Battery Surprisingly Beats Top Four Android Flagships

Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a larger battery than the iPhone 11 Pro Max but has a lower on-screen time.

Recently, the YouTube channel XEETECHCARE has a battery life display between several flagship models on the market including Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, iPhone 11 Pro Max, Galaxy S20 Ultra, OnePlus 8 Pro, Oppo Find X2 Pro to see which phone have the highest battery life.

Which phone do you think will be the winner? iPhone 11 Pro Max vs four notable Android flagships.

First of all, let's take a look at the battery capacity of each device. Specifically, the battery capacities of the five smartphones are as follows: 4,500mAh, 3,969mAh, 5,000mAh, 4,510mAh, and 4,260mAh.

iPhone 11 Pro Max does much better than its rivals in the first test despite having the lowest battery capacity.

After the first test with Instagram, the biggest decrease in battery capacity belonged to Android smartphone models with a 92% battery life. Meanwhile, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is still up to 97%.

Next, after surfing Facebook for about 1 hour, the battery capacities of the five devices decrease at the same pace and iPhone 11 Pro Max still holds the advantage with 88% battery left. The remaining models range from 84-85% battery.

iPhone 11 Pro Max is still doing great.

Switching to Twitter, the results are not too surprising when the iPhone 11 Pro Max still leads with 83% battery remaining. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra consumes the highest battery as only 76% of the battery is available.

Still iPhone 11 Pro Max

After surfing social network apps, XEETECHCARE then plays mobile games, starting with the light game Temple Run. The the iPhone 11 Pro Max seems to consume more battery while Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a slightly lower battery, with only a 4% battery decrease and staying at 72% battery left.

The battery capacities of four Android smartphones are reducing at similar paces.

Switching to a heavier game, PUBG Mobile, the battery capacities of the four devices have changed after about 45 minutes of gaming. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has 55% battery left, Galaxy S20 Ultra runs at 60% battery continues, which is 5% lower than that of iPhone 11 Pro Max (65% battery). Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 Pro sees a more drastic battery drop, only staying at 53%.

iPhone 11 Pro Max is doing great, surpassing its Android rivals by a large margin.

The last one is GTA, which is the heaviest-graphics game on this test. After about 30-35 minutes of gaming, all handsets see a noticeable decrease in battery capacity and this is the time when larger battery capacity comes into play. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra now only 50% battery, iPhone 11 Pro Max stays at 55% battery, and the lowest one is OnePlus 8 Pro with only 48% battery. Meanwhile, Galaxy S20 Ultra still has a 59% battery left.

Galaxy S20 Ultra surprisingly beats the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

In the third test, all five phones play YouTube videos within 2 hours. Not surprisingly, when the ones with lower capacity batteries like the iPhone 11 Pro Max or Oppo Find X2 Pro show their weaknesses. Specifically, Find X2 Pro only has 28% battery life left while the battery life of the iPhone 11 Pro Max is only 30% battery. Next is Note 20 Ultra with 31% battery and the highest is the Galaxy S20 Ultra with 41% battery.

S20 Ultra stays strong while the other four's battery capacities are not far off each other.

The fourth test is to perform the test with the Geekbench 5 benchmark tool, which is quite surprising when the iPhone 11 Pro Max has surpassed three of its Android rivals even though the Galaxy S20 Ultra is still leading thanks to its large battery advantage. As can be seen, the benchmark tests actually consume a lot of the Android smartphone's battery capacity. At this time, the four Android smartphones only have around 18-21% battery life while the iPhone 11 Pro Max stays strong at 28% battery.

iPhone 11 Pro Max somehow uses very little battery life in the Geekbench 5 test, helping it beat the S20 Ultra.

And the final test is enabling 4K 30fps video recording on all 5 phones. The first to shutdown is the Oppo Find X2 Pro, then the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 Ultra, OnePlus 8 Pro, and finally the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

iPhone 11 Pro is the last man standing even though it has the smallest battery.

In summary, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is the device with the highest on-screen time with 9 hours and 22 minutes. Next is the OnePlus 8 Pro with 8 hours and 37 minutes, Galaxy S20 Ultra at 8 hours and 28 minutes, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra at 8 hours and 26 minutes, and Oppo Find X2 Pro at 8:21 minutes.

So through this interesting battery test, it can be seen that despite the upgraded battery capacity and optimizations, the new technologies also somewhat consume a lot of energy. For example, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is the only phone on this test that has a 60Hz display while the other four phones have a 120Hz one. With the iPhone 12 Pro max being rumored to feature a 120Hz screen, it is interesting to see how it will fare its Android counterparts.
