RTX 3080 Price: NVIDIA has officially unveiled the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3080, the first two consumer GPUs built based on the new Ampere architecture.

NVIDIA has officially unveiled its 3000-series xnxubd GPUs after we heard leaks for weeks. The tech giant introduced the mid-range RTX 3070 and the flagship RTX 3080, the first two consumer GPUs that are built based on the new Ampere architecture. Let's see what the company says about these new graphics cards and RTX 3080 price also.

The graphics cards promise a huge leap in performance regarding real-time ray tracing. Besides, the RTX 3080 will feature 10GB of GDDR6X RAM while the RTX 3070 will feature 8GB of GDDR6 RAM.

The RTX 3080 is officially here

Pricing

The RTX 3080 price will be at $699 (or Rs 51,363), costing as much as the present 2080 GPU. Meanwhile, the RTX 3070 price will be $499 (or Rs 36,667). If you want a super-powerful graphics card, you can choose to pay $1,499 (or Rs 1,10,147) for the RTX 3090 price that can handle 8K gaming.

RTX 3080 key specifications

According to NVIDIA, the RTX 3080 offers twice the speed of the 2080. It’s not clear how the company measured the performance, but if this turns out true in the real world, it’s will be much cheaper to get high-end PC gaming.

The reference version of the 3080 will come with dual fans, one of which exhausts air through the bracket like a blower cooler while the other flows air over the card like a contemporary cooling method. Third-party cards from MSI and EVGA will probably use the more conventional two-and-three fan setups. In addition, the new graphics cards will include 12-pin connectors to replace the old dual 8-pin design.

The RTX 3080 is twice as powerful as the 2080

NVIDIA debuted the 2000 GPU series two years ago, which became the first video card to support hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Especially, the RTX 2080 Ti offered 4K gaming with frame rates higher than 60 fps. However, we soon noticed the problem in real-time ray tracing in games such as Control.

In 2019, NVIDIA released the Super card lineup as an upgrade for its mid-range GPUs, but the RTX 2080 Ti was still the best graphics card ever (until now). Though it costs more than $1,000 and delivers the best gaming performance, it couldn’t master ray tracing in titles like Minecraft RTX.

Jensen Huang, the chief executive officer of NVIDIA, describes that new Ampere architecture as a big upgrade from the first generation. The 3080 will come with 30 shader teraflops, compared with 11 in the 2080, and offer 58 RT TFLOPS instead of 34 RT TFLOPS in the 2080. Nevertheless, the biggest upgrade comes in the AI Tensor Cores, clocking 238 tensor TFLOPS, s opposed to only 89. He added that the Ampere architecture is more efficient in ray tracing in addition to normal rasterized rendering.

RTX 3070 key specifications

While the 3080 doubles the speed of the 2080, the 3070 will work faster than the 2080 Ti. Featuring a whopping 5,888 CUDA cores paired with a 1.73GHz boost clock, you will get 20TFLOPs of FP32 performance.

However, it will come with 8GB of GDDR6 RAM with a 256-bit memory interface, which can make it hard for the GPU to really outperform the 2080 Ti in real life. Though, testing shows that 4K gaming hasn’t used more than 8GB VRAM at any given time.

RTX 3090 key specifications

Like the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, the RTX 3090 is built based on the new Ampere architecture that promises big leaps in ray tracing and PC gaming. According to NVIDIA, this graphics card is the first 8K gaming GPU in the world that supports 8K HDR ShadowPlay, HDMI 1.2, among other things. The company gives this card 10,496 CUDA cores, paired with a 1.70GHz boost clock and 24GB GDDR6X storage.

The RTX 3090 is labeled BFGPU (Big Ferocious GPU), taking three slots and including a silencer to make it 10 times quieter than the Titan RTX. It’s also claimed by NVIDIA that the 3090 will be 50% faster compared with the Titan RTX and require a 350W power source.

Besides the RTX 3070 and 3080, there's also the super-powerful RTX 3090 (RTX 3080 Ti)

Apart from the RTX 3080, the Xnxubd NVIDIA 2020 also introduced RTX IO as a new way to quickly decompress and offload textures from its GPUs. Paired with the DirectStorage from Microsoft, it will allow RTX graphics cards to handle the amount of work equal to that of dozens of CPU cores. This means you will get instand game loading if using supported hardware without any buffering issues.

The 3070 and 3080 will become two of the first GPUs supporting HDMI 2.1, which lets you play game at higher resolutions and frame rates than HDMI 2.0. However, the most important feature for gamers must be the inbuilt support for variable refresh rate, meaning a compatible TV can act as a G-Sync or Freesync monito to handle small frame rate variations without torn frames or visible stutter.

The RTX 3080 release date is September 17 and the RTX 3070 release date is some time in October. Meanwhile, the super-powerful RTX 3090 will go on sale starting September 24.
