Uber's Vice President - Cameron Poetzscher has stepped down after making the sexually suggestive comments to female colleagues.
Cameron Poetzscher allegedly made sexually suggestive comments to female co-workers and has resigned from the Vice President of Corporate Development at Uber.
Poetzscher has been working for Uber for 4 and a half years before his resignation. He successfully made some big deals as well as got an attractive investment from Softbank for Uber. Although the company always appreciated his service, it had to send him a formal warning in 2017 when detecting his misconduct. Uber didn’t reveal any detail of Poetzscher’s scandals until the Wall Street Journal reported last month.
Since 2017, this ride-hailing company has constantly faced criticisms about how to treat female colleagues. Right after that, an urgent investigation is conducted at Uber to culminate its healthy working environment and ensure the mental and physical security of the female employees. At this time, Poetzscher became the subject of the sexual harassment investigation.
Poetzscher used to lose his annual bonus and mandatorily take part in a sensitivity coaching in November 2017. However, less than a year later, he continued to entangle the sexual harassment scandal. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi who has taken over the Uber former CEO Travis Kalanick’s duties since August 2017 to now decided to culminate the culture of sexism at Uber. And Poetzscher must be responsible for his actions.
After Poetzscher’s resignation, Nelson Chai (Uber’s new CFO) will temporarily hold his position until Uber finds a new head of corporate development. Chai also took charge of many important positions at other companies, as a President at CIT Group, a CFO at Merrill Lynch or CFO at NYSE Euronext.
