Before, drivers must use Beacons installed in the windshields, which will glow in the same color that riders choose to find their uber cab. Instead of using Uber's Beacons hardware, the new Spotlight feature saves more money than Beacons and is much more convenient.

The operation of the Spotlight is simple, after completing the Uber setting process, users will be provided with the name of the driver, vehicle type, license plate, and a specific color code. Then, just click the icon at the bottom of the screen, the entire screen of your phone will light up the color provided previously. All left for you to do is just popping the phone up with the glowing screen, the driver will find you easily in the crowd by the previously announced color.

When you're surrounded by people who are also booking Uber, Spotlight will make it easier for drivers to know your location and avoid duplication colors between riders like using Beacons.

Besides, Uber also offers the pick-up message feature to increase the efficiency of finding your driver. On the application, there will be a small message box at the bottom of the screen that allows you to provide or add more details about your location for the driver to find you more easily. This prevents you from continually calling the driver to inform while they are driving to pick you up.

Uber also offers some suggestions in sending a detailed description of the pickup point for users, but of course, you can fully record under its own. However, there might have some problems, such as the driver does not understand your intentions.
