It seems like TikTok is becoming a strong competitor of Snapchat, YouTube, and Instagram as its popularity is on the rise.
Recently, the platform is testing a new Discover tab so that users can navigate its content more easily. This new function will be in the place of the Search function, right on the left of the upload button.
The new feature was reported by Jane Manchun Wong, a leaker who has had some projections about popular apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter right.
According to Wong, for now, what we can see is just Network Error, and it was unclear whether the new tab would be any different from the old Search button.
Discover is not the only thing ByDance is testing at the moment. Wong said that the company was working on a list of close friends on WhatsApp so that TikTok users can send them videos quickly. This is not a brand new feature though. The app’s sharing UI has already supported WhatsApp; so what the company is testing is just a shortcut for it.
You may have heard that Instagram intends to hide the number of engagements on its site. However, TikTok is looking to do the exact opposite. It wants to show the total number of times a video has been liked and downloaded.
Wong also talked about a new method that allows you to link your TikTok account with those on Facebook and Google.
If this new feature makes it to reality, you may be able to sign in the short video platform with Google or Facebook account.
Another feature that helps users manage many accounts at once is also under development.
TikTok has become a phenomenon ever since 2017 and now its popularity has surpassed Twitter and Reddit.
