Chrome OS has updated a few new changes, showing that Google seems to look for something new for Messages out of the Android brand. The tech giant has reportedly had a plan to deploy the web app on the Google.com, instead of on the Android.com at the moment. That doesn’t mean Google will eliminate the Android platform, but it clearly aims to the development potentials in the future.
There has been no official revelation concerning its plans; however, some previous reports state that the company is now developing this app on its new OS - Fuchsia. Besides, the Chrome OS is also being improved along with each newly-updated version.
Fuchsia may be considered as the combination between the two existing OSes including Chrome and Android, but it will take Google many years to make the OS become a middle ground.
As per the movement of the web app Messages, Google initially chose to use the Chromium Gerrit, a platform to manage source codes. It was 9to5Google that leaked the news before all of the other sources.
The report also uncovered that the word Android has been reduced its presence in the launch events for each latest product held by Google. As a proof, while the tech company held the launch event to promote the Google Pixel 3, the word “Android” was not even mentioned at all.
Those who always follow each event from Google must remember several times the company has changed names of some most prominent apps, including “Messages” from “Android Messages,” “Google Pay” from “Android Pay,” and “Wear OS” from “Android Wear.”
At the time when the writer did the report, messages.google.com doesn’t work yet, but it won’t take too long. The URL may be renamed in a few next days or next weeks. As expected, the shift may be applied in the 72nd or 73rd version of Chrome OS. Also, these two URLs may keep working in a few months to ensure users to get familiar with messages.google.com.
