Crucial data being stolen by an employee? It might sound like fiction to somebody, but the plot was brought to life when Tesla - a multinational corporation has sued its former staff. As reported by Bloomberg on Thursday, the alleged employee has now been recruited by a company called Xpeng as well as its US-located brand XMotors.ai.
Guangzhi Cao or the staff in the case was denounced to steal data from Tesla's Autopilot. Though Cao said he downloaded the source code, it didn't mean he has taken any advantage of that, as argued by his lawyers.
What makes the lawsuit become more notable is that Tesla is calling for help from Apple as such company is another victim of the Xpeng employee in terms of IP theft. Despite sending a subpoena and requesting access to this data, Tesla still hasn't shown its purpose of working with Apple, according to Bloomberg.
Based on the current situation, it can be seen that the intended target of both Tesla and Apple is the ex-employee who admitted to violating their intellectual property, rather than focusing on Xpeng. Moreover, Xpeng has also proved itself by shutting down and even firing the employee immediately after he was investigated as a theft in the case of Apple.
Given Tesla is persuing an ex-staff and ignoring the company that employed him, someone has cast doubt on the cooperativeness of two.
Both Tesla and Apple refused to make any related comments.
