Supposing Facebook Is Tracking Teen Browsing Habits, Apple Offers A Ban

Other apps of Facebook in the Apple App Store are not affected by this ban.

This week, Apple uncovered that the company has forbidden Facebook from its program which was set up to help businesses to control their workers’ iPhones. Reasons behind this hailed from Mark Zuckerberg’s company misusing it to track the teen browsing habits.

The iPhone manufacturer provides certificates for businesses to enhance their controllability over iOS smartphones, from remotely installing apps, monitoring access and app usage, as well as removing data. The program run by Apple aims to some organisations’ employees who need to do official duties on their iPhones. Their privacy needs have differences with those using iDevices for themselves.

On January 29, according to a TechCrunch report, Facebook paid its users under the age of 13 to have a Facebook Research app installed on their smartphones. The app leveraged business tools offered by Apple to suggest its users install a virtual private network or VPN software that is designed to track the web browsing habits of users.

As a result, the social networking firm was banned out of the program of the business app.

Facebook's other apps in the Apple App Store are not affected by this ban. That means the social networking firm can continue distributing Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp apps to iOS users. However, the company won’t offer internal applications to its workers anymore.

As per the Facebook Research app, the company supposed Apple ignored some of its major aspects, and it always asked for permission from its users.

It also revealed that teenagers only occupied not over 5% of the total participants of its research program. In addition, they all signed the forms with the consent from their parents.
