According to some reliable sources, Sony has intended to roll out its PlayStation5 with a limited output in the first year rather than having mass production.

Added by the anonymous interviewees, on the hunt for a high price at the roll-out of perfectly-designed PS5, Tokyo-based big tech needs to partly limit the initial products. Interviewees also clarified that it is the global COVID-19 epidemic impacting Sony’s PS5 promotion activities, then forcing them to limit the quantity, not their production capacity.
However, some people assume the price tag stuck to PS5 may damage the initial purchase. Game developers, who are the name creators of the next PlayStation, are making several estimations for the cost of it, fluctuating between $499 to $549. Bloomberg Intelligence’s Matthew Kanterman even stated that Sony might have to increase the price because of the rising component costs.

In terms of Sony’s strategy, some people who get acquainted with its trail predicted it would utilize PlayStation 4 as a bridge to get more engagement for PlayStation platform’s network services when the PS5 is produced with limited editions.
Although there are many remaining factors that can affect the production volume of PS5, it seems that COVID-19 state will be a key one. Sony’s employees have been asked to work from home to minimize the severity of coronavirus.
As a result, the board has to postpone the approval of business plans for the ongoing fiscal year, absolutely containing those for PlayStation. They also intended to publicize the previous year’s results on April 30, but it is dated back due to the epidemic.
No matter how long coronavirus pandemic will last, Sony is still unlikely to hold up PS5’s launch from the important year-end shopping events. It is believed that only when the opponent Microsoft decides to delay its next-generation Xbox’s release will Sony do the same.
Additionally, analysts even estimated a loss for the two tech giants, especially in the US market, if they insist on their attention-grabbing race.
