Apple Inc. is partnering with the e-scooter firm Bird to help customers to rent a dockless Bird Scooter in the upcoming time. That means iPhone users can leverage the NFC tag on Apple Pay to unlock as well as rent any e-scooter without downloading the app provided by the electric scooter rental firm.

Jennifer Bailey, who now serves as Vice President of Internet Services at Apple, revealed the news for the first time at the Transact Conference 2019 in Las Vegas. In addition, she also noted that Apple has been collaborating with PayByRide (a parking meter payment firm) and Bonobos (an e-commerce subsidiary of Walmart).
Nowadays, we don’t have any difficulties in finding as well as hiring a Bird scooter. Both Apple and Bird may realize the great chance inside it, so they have decided to focus on developing this service. More particularly, users can now download and install the Bird app to their smartphones, choose any scooter near them on the map, check the QR code, and everything is done.

However, the partnership between Apple and Bird has just brought a new function to users, which helps them save much more time and efforts. Users will no longer follow all the steps mentioned above. Instead of that, they just need to tap an NFC tag on Apple Pay to begin a new transaction with a new ride.
To enjoy the new function, users will meet some following requirements, including having Apple Pay installed on an iOS smartphone with an NFC chip (maybe iPhone X, 7, or 8), they must be aged 18 or over, and agree with all terms of service of Bird. When they tap their devices against the chosen scooter, Bird’s website will be automatically opened, and now they can take the remaining steps.
Apple always seems to know how to improve the old functions as well as update the new functions for Apple Pay. Also at the Transact 2019, Bailey noted that the tech company planned to introduce shortcuts via NFC tags as a solution to remove all existing barriers. For its partner, the e-scooter company Bird hopes to bring more and more scooters to its users, even including those who haven’t install the app on their smart devices.
