While most of the wireless charging systems ask users to park their phones on a charging pad to power them, several companies such as Ossia and Energous have introduced the idea of wireless charging technology working well over a long distance. Now, with the new approval from the US Federal Communications Commission, Ossia is likely to come up with a completely wireless charging technology instead of the existing tangle of cables. Thanks to this, the advanced charging system going with radio waves is expected to be a closer move to reality.
The radiofrequency will charge your device, which is in need of featuring a compatible receiver. The Ossia's wireless charging system, dubbed 'Cota', is said to beam power through the 2.4GHz radio waves, which are similar to Wi-Fi networking in the air. The company hopes that there're no batteries needed to power devices because its technology will directly do that job.
Ossia said this approval is something like a step toward the reality, though the FCC's limits are significant. Back in 2017, the company intended to roll out products to the consumer market in 2018. For now, consumers may have to wait until 2020 for a chance to get hold of an Ossia's wireless charging system.
