As the India lockdown, which will likely last for 21 days, is halting nearly all trade and commerce activities in India, tech giants are launching ways to help users continue using services during the tough time. With this in mind, Reliance Jio now offers users a new way of recharging their mobile plans through ATM machines.

To recharge in this way, users just need to bring their ATM card to an ATM machine, the process is seamless and they don’t even need an OTP.
According to a tweet posted by Jio’s official account, the company enables recharging at AMT machines of the State Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, IDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, DCB Bank, Axis Bank, and AUF Bank. In total, these banks have more than 100,000 ATM machines across the country, based on data from RBI. For Jio users, here are the steps you need to follow to recharge your number at the ATM machine.

- Step 1: Insert your debit card or credit card into the machine.
- Step 2: From the main menu, select “Recharge.”
- Step 3: From the menu in “Recharge,” enter your number.
- Step 4: Press Enter or OK, depending on the machine, then enter your PIN.
- Step 5: Enter the recharge amount.
- Step 6: Confirm the value then press Enter.
- Step 7: The ATM machine will show the recharge message while the amount is drawn from your account. Then, you will get a confirmation message for the recharge on your Jio number.
This new way will be especially helpful for those relying on offline stores to recharge their Jio accounts.
