IT Ministry And Google Join Hand For “Build For Digital India”

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will partner with Google on building a new program called “Build for Digital India.”

On August 31, MeitY or the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced that it would partner with Google on building a new program called “Build for Digital India.” The aim of the program is to provide engineering students with a platform for developing solutions that not only are technology-based, market-ready but can also deal with key social problems.

The program will look for students’ ideas focusing on areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, smart cities, smart mobility and transportation, women safety, accessibility and disability, environment and digital literacy.

MeitY or the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced that it would partner with Google.

For the program, engineering students from different regions can apply and take part in a new learning journey which will help turn their ideas into real-world solutions.

Applicants will be offered online and offline learning opportunities on important technologies like Machine Learning, Android and Cloud.

These will be available through the Developer Student Club network of Google as well as other Google Developer networks.

Students can also take part in mentorship sessions in product strategy, design, and technology to some of the most potential products and prototypes. According to Google, it will announce a formal invitation to join the program soon.

In a statement, Ravi Shankar Prasad, IT Minister, said:

According to Google’s Vice President, Government Affairs and Public Policy, Karan Bhatia, advanced new technologies such as AI and Machine Learning could help deal with some of India’s toughest social challenges.
