According to a new video, it seems that iOS 14 will finally begin a new ear of multitasking on iPhones, and there are clues about how the next iOS version may look like. These are currently the biggest leaks about Apple’s plans for this year.
It’s months till the next update of iPhone’s operating system but there has already been a preview of multitasking that may feature on the iPhone 12 along with some older models compatible with iOS 14. As can be seen in a Twitter video posted by Ben Geskin, an iPhone 11 is running a grid view of apps that looks similar to the layout for multitasking on iPadOS.
Twitter users responded to the video saying that it might be a jailbreak change in iOS 13, but Geskin maintains that this is an iOS 14 early version. The long time Apple leaker also posted an image showing the multitasking switcher page in the Settings app, from which we can see several layout options, namely Minimum Viable Switcher, Automatic, Grid Switcher, and Deck Switcher. The jailbreak version of the feature does not have these options in Settings.
No matter if this new layout will come to life, it would make sense to have multitasking capability on the iPhone as their screens are getting larger. The latest rumors say that the biggest iPhone 12 will come with a 6.7-inch display.
Based on previous launch cycles, it’s possible that Apple will announce iOS14 at its annual Worldwide Developer Congress in June and release the OS in September along with the next iPhone.
