Intel has officially unveiled the 10th-gen Intel processors under the code name of “Ice Lake”. There have been some laptops previewed this year at Computex and they are anticipated to appear with the new Intel processors. Included in the list are Acer Swift 5, Lenovo S940, HP Envy 13 and Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. Newer laptops coming with the new processors are anticipated to come in the holiday season this year.
The 10th Gen processors of Intel are designed for lighter and sleeker laptops as well as 2-in-1s. However, their new capabilities will allow laptops to carry out tasks that are related to AI and to improve graphics performance, proving better experiences for gamers.
Intel’s Ice Lake processors are featured with Gig+, Wi-fi 6 of the company as well as Thunderbolt 3. Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) is Wifi technology’s next-generation promising lower latency and faster speeds. Wi-Fi 6 promises to provide faster downloading speeds at gigabit as well as lower latency.
According to Intel, the 10th Gen Core or Ice Lake processors are the 1st to be designed to accomplish tasks related to artificial intelligence on 2-in-1 form factors and light-and-thin laptops. Ice Lake is said to deliver on the performance that is necessary for applications infused with AI.
Moreover, there are some key features, which are designed for AI, also come with the processors, including Deep Learning Boost of Intel. It is a new set of dedicated instruction that will make the neural networks go faster on the central processing unit (CPU) in scenarios such as photo indexing, photorealistic effects or automatic photo enhancements.
In addition, the processors have GNA - Gaussian & Neural Accelerator of Intel – a dedicated engine which is run on noise suppression at the power of ultra-low level and background workloads surrounding voice processing. GNA will also make sure that the battery life is better.
The new Iris Plus graphics of Intel support 1080-pixel gaming and content creation at a higher level, such as processing high-resolution image, editing 4K video and applying video filters quickly. As Intel’s 1st set of GPUs, they are made to assist the Adaptive-Sync of VESA, ensuring a smoother experience for gamers across some games including Fortnite and Dirt Rally 2.0. Also, they contain variable-rate shading to improve rendering performance.
