Facebook Is Testing To Merge News Feed And Stories, Now You Swipe Instead Of Scrolling

Facebook is testing this merge and it was initially spotted by researcher Jane Manchun Wong and shared via her Twitter account.

While Facebook had to spend efforts and quite some time to get its users on Stories, but the social giant has already begun taking this feature to a new level, where it’s testing on merging Stories with the newsfeed.

Jane Manchun Wong, a famous researcher for reverse engineering social network apps, found out about the test and posted the news on Twitter on Monday. Apart from the hybrid feed, the biggest change coming along with the test is that users now swipe left and right, replacing the previous up and down scrolling.

There weren’t any responses from Facebook about the news.

Wong wrote in her tweet that this integrated Stories and Posts into one, which lets users consume both the features in the same content reel.

From what can be seen in the animated GIF posted by Wong, it appears that the content on the news feed will mostly remain the same: several posts from your friends, sponsored posts, followed by a Story.

It was also noted by Wong that, in the meantime, the timer on the interface will not pause even when you read a long post, which means you had better finish reading it within six seconds.

Currently, on its mobile app, Facebook is placing Stories feed under the update box and above the news feed.
