Amazon has been trying to ensure its customers of faster packages’ delivery. It’s a huge step for the e-commerce giant by letting its customers pick up their Amazon orders from several railway stations around Mumbai. The company has entered a partnership with Indian Railways to realize its plan.
With this partnership, Amazon India has received permission from the Indian Railways to organize pickup kiosks in four different Mumbai railway stations including CSTM, Kalyan, Dadar, and Thane. The company believes that customers will have better accessibility via these kiosks as the number of daily commuters in Mumbai is huge.

Director of last-mile transportation at Amazon India, Prakash Rochlani said that since Amazon is a customer-centric company, it is constantly making use of technology and resources to bring about initiatives to enhance customer convenience. The railway network of Suburban forms the backbone of Mumbai's public transportation. He explained as to why Mumbai is chosen as the location to set up Amazon’s pickup kiosks.
In order to use this new service, whenever customers place an order on Amazon, on the checkout page, they will have to select one of the four stations as their order pickup location. By doing this, customers are free to pick up their orders at their convenience.
Commenting on the partnership with the e-commerce giant, Indian Railways’ spokesperson said,

The first pickup store facility of Amazon was launched in 2014, allowing customers to come and pick up their packages at a convenient time. Whether this new strategy will work or not, we will have to just wait and see. If the responses are great, the project will be expanded to more cities across the country.
