Apple Plans To Produce Its New $6,000 Mac Pro In China

Apple will be in partnership with Quanta Computer Incorporated to create the next-generation Mac Pro in a facility near Shanghai.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple plans to produce its new Mac Pro, which is expected to be sold for $6,000, in China, instead of the United States. It comes as no surprise that the Cupertino-based tech company chooses this country. The reason behind it is so easy to understand. Most of its products are created in China.

However, the Mac Pro is an exception. This latest major product was produced in the United States. Apple made a sudden decision in 2013. At that time, it boasted about the company’s plans to manufacture the Mac Pro lineup inland.

The sources of the Wall Street Journal also reveals that Apple will be in partnership with Quanta Computer Incorporated, a Taiwan-headquartered manufacturer of electronic hardware and notebook computers, to create the next-generation Mac Pro in a facility near Shanghai.

That means the iDevice maker will save shipping costs significantly.

One of the prominent advantages of the collaboration comes from the fact that this facility is near other suppliers of Apple. That means the iDevice maker will save shipping costs significantly. In addition, the costs of manufacturing labor in the Chinese market are many times as low as those in the United States. One more notably, Apple has had a sustainable relationship with the Taiwan-based tech company that is responsible for making Apple smartwatches and MacBooks at some other facilities.

Apple decides to shift the production of the Mac Pro lineup to China while the trade war between China and the Trump government has been increasing. The import tariffs from China that are estimated up to 25% must affect all major products of Apple. Besides, the tech company has suggested its suppliers consider moving assembly of devices out of the Chinese territory. And according to Foxconn, it is willing to manufacture iPhones out of China if necessary.
