Apple has changed forever the way most people regard facial biometrics with what it offers on the iPhone X. Instead of opting for an in-display fingerprint sensor; we have Face ID for a convenient and accurate authentication.
However, Apple does not forgo the idea of a fingerprint reader. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with a long and impressive track record of correct projections of the iPhone maker’s next move, recently announced that the company might revive the dead Touch ID in 2021.

Even if Apple actually apply this authentication method, it will not be the end for Face ID, but rather, a supporting system alongside the facial biometrics one. The reason for this revival might come down to Apple’s patent for the in-display fingerprint sensor and its popularity on Android devices.
A publication house in China claimed that Apple would replace the current Face ID with a fingerprint reading system to lower the price of iPhones in the country. However, according to this news source, the two methods would not exist side-by-side.
Apple has long been a company that values simplicity and quality, so the rumor of two authentication methods seems hard to believe for now.
There are only two situations where Face ID loses to the other system, which are when the light is too bright, or users try a too odd angle. A Touch ID will solve these issues, but since the projection is for 2021, Apple may just improve their current well-loved system.
