A System Of Power Stations For Electric Vehicles Will Be Set Up On The Delhi-Chandigarh Highway

Indian government and the private sector are taking measures to increase the use of Electric Vehicles in the country with a new powering system.

Indian government and the private sector are taking measures to increase the use of Electric Vehicles in the country. Their latest effort is the charging stations that line the length of the Delhi-Chandigarh highway.

As the system takes their power from the Sun, it will not put a stretch on the power grid. This feature is to ensure that the EV and what powers them will generate no CO2 emission.

This system features an emission-free operation

Each charging station will feature a power plant on its roof and supplies both slow and fast chargers.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd is the company in charge of this project. They handle everything from designing and producing to installing the stations. All of the stations will be governed by a central system, which is also a product of BHEL.

This initiative to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles is part of the FAME (stand for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India), a Department of Heavy Industry’s plan. Its final goal is to fulfill the country’s requirement for transportation but 30% of them must be powered by electricity. The time of the scheme extends to 2030.

This plan is made in accordance with the Indian government’s intention to reduce the amount of vehicles’ exhaust fume as well as the country’s reliance on fossil fuel. Commuters are expected to pay a lesser amount for charging their vehicles in comparison with filling the vehicle with diesel or petrol.

The plan has raised a lot of questions regarding its operation, one of which is whether users have to pay to charge at the station. Other than the overview of the scheme stated above, nothing more is revealed at the moment, including a timeline for each stage of the plan, the exact number of stations will be constructed, or the information on who will be in charge of operating these stations.
