If you think that whipping out your headphones prior to running or travelling could make people angry, then it is understandable that we could explode in front of a knotted headphones wire.
Well, you should not blame yourself for that- since even science research has shown that it happens on its own.

6 years ago, there was a study in the University of California San Diego to find out the reason made headphones know themselves up in your backpack or pocket. Two scientists used a section of maths, named knot theory, to do this.
They tested a variety of string, with different stiffness and length, then put them inside a plastic tumbling box. The time of rotation also varied. They were amazed by what they got afterward.
First, they explored that the string tumbled only created single knots, called “prime knots”, in opposition to “composite knots”- means more than one knots on a string.
Wires will always mess themselves up, that’s plain physics

The speed of forming a knot also surprised the scientists. Within only 10 seconds, with approximately 10 rotations, there were already knots in half the strings tested. Therefore, even before you take some steps, a pair of headphones sitting in your bag will still tend to create knots, no matter how long it has been there.
We should also take the string’s length into account. The longer the string gets, the more probable form knots. Materials also make the differences, since scientists found that stiffer string was harder to form knots.

When examining random knots, the scientists figured out that the size of the container also played a big role. If the space is not big enough, the string cannot move around and create know, this explained the rareness in childbirth’s umbilical cord knots.
Therefore, a solution for this messy problem can be easily provided by storing headphones in a limited space, or better, in a crampy, fitted container.
It would be a great help if we can wrap them around some piece of cardboard. If all the above ways still could not make a change, do not be hesitate to go for the wireless headphone.
