Several shreds of evidence living up to the expectations of the peripheral are provided by Japan’s patent office.

While waiting for a brand-new PS5 console from Sony, we may have a glance at the upcoming device. Several shreds of evidence living up to the expectations of the peripheral are provided by Japan’s patent office’s newly published pictures which were first found out by VGC.

From the first impression, it is hard to immediately notice the differences between DualShock 4 and the new controller. Through a thorough look, the removal of the light bar in the accessory which may considerably lengthen the battery life will catch the attention of users. As it can tell from the diagram, the two-tone design of the controller’s predecessor would be replaced by larger triggers. In addition, one detail that is said to cause misunderstandings is the inclusion of an object like two separate headphone jacks on the bottom of the controller.

However, the biggest adaptation from these images is the fact that Sony does not intend to change a thing. The company’s next-generation controller is likely to feature symmetrical thumbsticks, like the DualShock4. Comparing to an asymmetrical layout, the pros and cons of symmetrical thumbstick are one of the most popular topics in heated debates between PlayStation and Xbox fans.

Therefore, it is highly recommended not to dig too much into these images, which is similar to most patents and line diagrams associated. Although Sony’s new controller prototype is said to look “an awful lot like the PS4’s DualShock 4” in its recent exclusive on the upcoming console by Wired, there has been a possibility that the final version would be totally different from the one at present.
