After months of teasing, Sony finally revealed the design of the new PlayStation 5 in the event “The Future of Gaming.” The design share a lot of similarities with the new DualSense controller: V-shaped vertical design, black and white concept with blue accents. At the moment, there is no information regarding the official launch date of the PS5 as well as its price. Sony only said that the next-gen console will be available to consumers during the festival of 2020. This information is enough to make a lot of gamers eagerly look forward to the holiday seasons. Surprisingly, on a Chinese e-commerce platform, the PS5 has been publicly sold for only dozens of USD, making people curious and suspicious at the same time. A YouTuber called Budget-Builds Official decided to order this “Made-In-China Ps5” to see if it is real or not.

In his video “I Ordered the PS5 From China!,” the YouTube ordered the PlayStation 4 from the Chinese e-commerce site for only around $70. The funny thing about this PlayStation 5 is that, in the description box, the seller writes that the device is from Sony, can play all games and has CPU 64 bit.

After a week, Budget-Builds Official finally received his order wrapped in a sketchy package. When opening the package, just like what he had expected, the device that he got was just a gaming device made by some Chinese manufacturers.

Inside the package was a PS5 fake, a console that looked like the Xbox 360 console but was still a fake one, some cables, and a power supply. The design of the device looked similar to the mini version of the PS Pro but with red accents and looked incomplete. Budget-Builds Official did try to ply in the fake device to see if it could run or not. However, the PS5 fake could only handle old games like Mario or Contra.

At the end of the video, Budget-Builds Official also tried to disassemble the entire fake PS5 to see what was inside. Unsurprisingly, all parts were simply connected with thin cables.

According to Sony’s lead system architect, Mark Cerny, the PlayStation 5 will come with 5GB/s SSD, which is something that has been most requested by developers. The system is said to be around 100 times more powerful than its predecessor, the PlayStation 4.

Several technical details are got rid of, making it on par with the Xbox Series X from Microsoft, in terms of speed. Besides the new SSD, the PlayStation 4 will have a custom AMD GPU with ray tracing and 3D audio for better multimedia home entertainment. It will also have backward compatibility, like the Xbox.

There is a new boost feature to regulate the power consumption of the system.

The system won’t only focus on the temperature, Cerny revealed. It will monitor the activities of the GPU and CPU, thus setting the frequencies accordingly.

Cerny added that most of the time, gaming systems tend to prioritize graphics and underestimate audio. The same thing was with the PS4. But this time, the PlayStation 5 will bring to users immersive audio from PSVR with other additional benefits.

The PS5 stands vertically. There are two versions: a Digital Edition and a 4K Blu-ray drive. Compared to the 4K Blu-ray version, the Digital Edition is much thinner since it doesn't come with the drive.

Gamers in the US can sign up at Best Buy, GameStop and Target to get notified about the pre-order date. Sony hasn’t revealed any details regarding pre-order information. So instead of getting a PS5 fake, you should wait for more information from Sony.
