Back in September, Sony announced its new gaming hardware, the PlayStation 5, but that didn’t include its pricing in the Indian market. Eventually, the tech giant revealed how much the PS5 would cost in India as well as a list of the pricing for various accessories available for sale along with the console. In this place, we will talk about the pricing and PlayStation 5 release date in the Indian market as well as other important information.

PlayStation 5 release date
With preorders starting on September 17, Sony is set to release the PlayStation 5 on November 12, which is just two weeks from now. It’s worth noting that the company is facing a trademark problem in India with the name PS5, so the launch of the console in this market may end up being delayed.
However, the release date was accidentally posted on the PlayStation India website, starting November 19. This suggests that Sony may have reached a settlement in time for the PS5 release.
PlayStation 5 price
Sony shared the pricing information with some news outlets and journalists, saying that Sony PlayStation 5 will come at a price of Rs 49,999 in the Indian market. Meanwhile, the Digital Edition will come at a price of Rs 39,999.
The tech giant also revealed pricing for accessories for Indian users. Accordingly, the PlayStation 5 controller named DualSense Wireless Controller is priced at Rs 5,990 while the HD camera is priced at Rs 5,190. In addition, there is the PULSE 3D wireless Headset at a price of Rs 8,590, the Media Remote at Rs 2,590, and the DualSense Charging Station Rs 2,590.
Besides, there are also purchase options for PlayStation 5 games that you can choose from, including Demon’s Souls at Rs 4,999, Destruction Allstars at Rs 4,999, Marvel Spiderman Miles Morale: Ultimate Edition at Rs 4,999, Sackboy A Big Adventure at Rs 3,999, and Marvel Spiderman: Miles Morales at Rs 3,999.
PlayStation 5 unboxing
Starting with the box, it’s sizable, suggesting that the PlayStation is large too. The box features a white, clean look, including the photos of the console, controller, along with mentions of support for 8K and 4K 120fps. Inside the box, it is all cardboard, the DualShock Controller, an HDMI cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, as well as instruction manual.
The unit measures 390 x 140 x 260 mm in dimensions. This is the biggest console available but this size is expected to help with cooling the CPU and the GPU. To compare, the PS4 measures 300 x 53 x 275 mm and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X measures 151 x 151 x 301 mm.
In terms of the design, the PS5 has received a big upgrade from its predecessor PS4. Half the PS4 was matte, the other half was glossy with a minimalistic design to disappear into an entertainment system. On the contrary, the PlayStation 5 is made to stand out, featuring a larger size with curves away from the black system in the middle.
There are some improvements on the front of the PS5 compared with its predecessor. It sports two ports including USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C, allowing for both existing peripherals and new ones. The disc eject buttons and the power buttons are firmly separated as well.
The back of the console has another two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, an Ethernet jack, the power jack, and a lock slot.
There is a stand that you have to use whether you put the console tall or lay it on the side. Putting the PS5 on its side is easy, you just need to rotate the base. On the back, there are a few controller symbols, namely the triangle, circle, cross, and square. You can align the clips easily with the ends of the pattern then press it on.
It takes a bit more work to put the stand vertically. You need to first remove a circular cap protecting the screw hole using your fingernail. Twisting the base will reveal a hidden space that holds a screw and has space to place the cap. You just need to pop out the screw then latch the base onto the bottom and tighten it with a flathead screwdriver.
When it comes to the controller, the DualSense keeps a lot of the comfort from the DualShock 4 of the PlayStation 4. The material is matte plastic and the controller features a black and white color. Most of the controller is white, but the PlayStation button and the control sticks are black. It has a futuristic look and it’s larger, heavier than the DualShock 4. It weighs around 0.6 pounds and packs a 1,560mAh battery.
Overall, the controller still has that basic layout, which includes share buttons, option buttons, and the standard PS controller. On the bottom, there is a headphone jack for audio, there are a touchpad and speaker as well.
The best thing about the DualSense controller is the vibration functionality along with the adaptive triggers. Let’s wait and see how they perform in real life.
