Pixelbook Go Price And Availability

Google still demands quite a high price for its affordable flagship.

Google still demands quite a high price for its affordable flagship

Pixelbook Go price is $649 (Rs. 47,438) for the version with RAM of 8GB, onboard storage of 64GB, Full HD touchscreen, and an 8th-generation Intel Core m3 processor.

At the entry-level price bracket, users have other and better Chromebooks to choose from, for example, Samsung’s Chromebook Plus V2 and the Asus Chromebook Flip.

However, Pixelbook Go is still the best Chromebooks with the unparalleled features and benefits, including one of the best keyboards, a durable battery, and a 1080p webcam.

Design

The Chromebook is designed to be lightweight and thin. Users have the choice to acquire the device in two colors, ‘Not Pink’ and ‘Just Black,’ or pink and black.

Pixelbook Go’s frame is made from matte magnesium alloy. This combines with the rippled base, makes for an easy to grip device. The frame is highly resistant to flex and pressure.

Pixelbook Go price might be a little bit too high to be a proper entry-level laptop but it’s equipped with top-notch features. Its keyboard comes with comfortably spaced keys and the best top-firing speakers among laptops of this size.

Google said users of the Pixelbook Go could rely on the Android phone unlocking feature to sign in to the device, which is a nuisance as those using iOS will be left out as there is no face unlock or fingerprint sensor to be substitute log-in method.

Connectivity-wise, the device has two USB-C 3.1 ports, which can handle both display output and charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Since the device isn’t a 2-in-1 laptop, it’s hard not to wonder why Google bother adding a touchscreen in the first place. While this isn’t exactly a disadvantage for many users, it will certainly limit the number of Android apps you can use on the laptop.

Pixelbook Go’s display is a 1080p touchscreen that offers the accuracy and vibrancy of higher-end options. If you edit photos a lot and can handle the Pixelbook Go price, you will have the best Chromebook for the job.

Above the screen, there is a 1080p webcam capable of recording videos at 60FPS.

Performance

Pixelbook Go doesn’t offer a groundbreaking kind of performance, much like its Chromebook siblings. However, for basic tasks and photo-editing, the Core i5 Y-series has enough power to handle both.

The device can deal with 1080p video playback and some Android games but that is the extent of its abilities.

With 8GB of RAM, you can rest assured that the device can handle multitasking between a dozen browser tabs without reloading them because of storage shortage.

For Pixelbook Go price, the device’s Geekbench 4 scores aren’t too bad compared with those of Macbook Air.

Battery Life

For a Chromebook of this size, the Pixelbook Go has impressive battery life. It holds up for 11 hours and 14 minutes in a video playback test. This performance is better than last year’s MacBook Air as Apple’s device can only survive for a bit longer than 10 hours.

This falls close to Google’s claim of 12 hours – an impressive number for most laptops on the market.

The device can get two hours of battery life from just 20 minutes of connecting to a power source. This ability combined with the long battery life makes Pixelbook the best when it comes to battery juice.

Software And Features

Opting for a Chromebook and you are in for a clean install of Chrome OS. Pixelbook isn’t an exception but that is also a disadvantage. Don’t expect anything unique with the device’s OS as most of the Pixelbook Go features can be found on other Chromebooks.

The addition of Google Assistant via keyboard or voice is warmly welcomed but again, it isn’t something you can only find on this device.

If you expect anything unique to justify the Pixelbook Go price, we again have to point to the long battery life and 1080p webcam.

We don’t quite understand Google’s decision to omit face and even fingerprint unlock at the Pixelbook Go price point. It might be because the search engine giant is too confident with the availability of Android phones.

So in short, Chrome OS isn’t as manipulable a system as macOS or Windows 10, but users will have most tasks done with it as they do with these two traditional OSs.
