According to Apple, the new Mac Mini can deliver up to three times the performance of the 2018 Mac Mini (powered by an Intel 8th generation chip).

Apple just launched its new Arm-based Mac Mini during the “One More Thing” even held on November 11. This is the second Mac having the Apple M1 chip and a built-in GPU.

The new device has a more optimized heat dissipation design, allowing it to maintain its overall performance while still remaining cool and running smoothly. It supports up to 2 displays and WiFi 6 for faster wireless connections. The new Mac Mini also offers better security thanks to integrated Secure Enclave.

The Apple M1 chip iss manufactured on the latest 5nm process with an 8-core GPU and 8-core CPU. It supports Thunderbolt and USB 4 while having the most powerful integrated GPU.

The M1’s Neural Engine has 16 cores in total, offering 15x more machine learning performance. It can handle 11 trillion operations per second.

In terms of connectivity, the device has 2 USB-C Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports (up to 40Gbps), 2 USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 ports (up to 10 Gbps), and 1 gigabit Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Additionally, it has an HDMI 2.0 port with 4K 60Hz output and DisplayPort (via USB-c) with 6K 60Hz output. If using both ports, you can output images to 2 monitors with resolutions up to 4K 60Hz.

Consumers can start pre-order the new Mac Mini today and receive it next week (November 17). It has a starting price of $699 for an 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD version. You can also spend $899 to get 511GB SSD or upgrade to 16GB of RAM for an extra $200.
