The newly-leaked AnTuTu benchmark scores show that the iPad Pro 2020 performance is not much faster than the 2018 iPad Pro, while the biggest improvement lies on the GPU only.

The iPad Pro 2020 - latest addition to the iPad Pro lineup, has been announced with the new Bionic A12Z processor. But it turns out the performance of this new processor is not much improved compared to the Bionic A12X processor inside devices like the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro launched in 2018.
Although not much difference in processing speed, if you look deeper into the comparison of benchmarks, the iPad Pro 2020 is significantly more powerful in GPU performance, with a score of about 9% higher than its predecessors. The iPad Pro 2020's GPU earns a score of 373,781, while its predecessor has a score of 345,016.
The higher GPU score is not only good for 3D games and apps but also for augmented reality features coming soon.
Although it is a new chip, it does not mean that Bionic A12Z scores are better than Bionic A12X. In CPU and UX tests, the score of Bionic A12Z is slightly lower than that of A12X. Even in the MEM memory speed test, the iPad Pro 2020 score - 74,998 points - is 20% lower than the 2018 iPad Pro, which has a score of 95,118 points.
The above scores show that, except for a significant improvement in GPU performance, the processor on the iPad Pro 2020 does not improve much in speed compared to the iPad Pro lineup released in 2018. Even so, for daily use, it is difficult for users to see performance differences. Therefore, the benefit of adding a LiDAR scanner to the camera cluster can overcome these differences and is a compelling reason for users to upgrade.
