Google Pixel 3 has added a new camera mode, Photobooth that automatically takes selfies when detecting kisses. It can also identify five other typical expressions.
Taking advantages of the development of AI, Google has taken its Pixel Camera App into a new level, specifically for Pixel phones. With this feature, the search giant provides users with a great tool to get a perfect selfie without having to touch the shutter button. Sometimes, taking selfies is difficult if your phone is shaky which results in a "not-so-good" photo. This is a new shutter-free mode that has come to the camera app on the Pixel 3. By tapping the shutter button, Pixel 3 will detect when your phone is stable and take a shot.
Another amazing thing here, otherwise, is the kiss-spotting feature. “And in the newest release of Pixel Camera, we’ve added kiss detection to Photobooth!” announced Google.
This is an update to the Photobooth mode in the Camera app in Pixel phones. It's a shutter-free mode that takes photos automatically with the wide-angle selfie cam of the Pixel 3. Besides detecting kisses, the software also recognizes five typical key facial expressions including smiles, kissy/duck face, surprise, tongue-out, and puffy-cheeks.
In fact, in order to determine when to take a shot, Google’s algorism evaluate the facial expression as shown in the given frame. Google managed to do so by training a sensory network to identify those facial expressions mentioned above. The kiss-detecting model that Photobooth uses is an alternative of the ICM, so-called Image Content Model of Google Clips. Google Clips is a small smart camera released last February at $249 using dedicated AI to capture “important moments” in people’s lives.
To put it in another way, with the Pixel 3’s Photobooth mode, all you need to do is to kiss your sweetheart and the phone camera will take you some selfies as gorgeous as possible.
Get yourself a Google Camera 6.2 APK file, straight ahead to the Photobooth mode, and try out this amazing kiss detection feature.
