Google Lens AI Has Finally Come To iPhone And iPad Devices

Nine months after its first launch in Android devices, the Google Lens AI has finally come to iOS users.

On Monday, Google announced that iOS users can now enjoy the company’s smart search app, Google Lens AI. The tech giant introduced this feature to Android devices in March, and iOS users could only use this feature through the Google Photos app.

Now, iPad and iPhone users no longer have to take a photo and use Lens through the camera roll, they can instead simply tap on the Google Lens icon lying in the Search bar.

Some of Google Lens’ capabilities are recognizing texts, looking words up, saving email addresses, calling people, and searching for shopping.

To use this feature, you just need to tap on the square icon representing the Lens. The icon lies to the right of the search entry box, next to the icon of the microphone. Then the iPhone’s camera will open, with blue dots appearing on the object that you want to look up.

When tapping on an item or text, you will see multiple cards indicating search results, just like in other Google apps that you’ve used.

Google Lens gives you a hand in more particular, deeper searches. You can use this app to add various occasions to your calendar with a simple tap on texts. This app generates suggestions on online shops to get an outfit or a piece of furniture, give you extra information about landmarks where you live, give you sources of knowledge about plants and animals that you can read, etc.

The image recognition mobile app was first revealed by Google in 2017, at the Google I/O event. November 2017, the giant tech firm released this app to its Pixel phones, then in March 2018, other Android devices started receiving the features. Then it gradually made its entrance to other devices.
