Japanese headphone maker Audio-Technica has recently launched its new ATH-S200BT wireless headphones in the Indian market. The devices with a staid appearance offer a sturdy and trusted build with the earcups and headband which users can adjust to meet their demand.
Their general appearance replicates the costlier Audio-Technica headphones’ typical design, but in a plastic-clad chassis as this offering belongs to the affordable wireless over-ear headphones’ category. Currently, they are available for Rs. 5,990 via offline and online retailers in the Indian market.
In the specifications department, they have all the necessary checkboxes which one probably seeks regarding the features. And the over-the-ear headphones take advantage of 40mm drivers and dynamic transducer drivers.
In addition, the newly-launched headphones deliver 5Hz-32,000Hz frequency response, covering sonic response outside the aural range. Additionally, the drivers deliver 102dB/mW audio sensitivity, which is similar or better than other devices in the same price segment. It also takes advantage of a 32ohm impedance circuit, an acceptable upper resistance limit for smartphone-focused headphones.
In the battery life department, the S200BT headphone delivers 40 rated hours in max continuous playback time, and 1,000 hours in maximum rated standby battery life. In addition, they also have a built-in microphone, an omnidirectional condenser microphone which supports general audio reception.
It is known that this microphone offers 50Hz-15,000Hz frequency response, covering the vocal sounds’ overall frequency range. And the slightly-limited frequency response in the microphone is kept in place in order to reduce surrounding high-pitch noise, which is essential for the omnidirectional microphones as they can pick up the noise around.
Lastly, the S200BT connects to other devices via Bluetooth 4.1, a small letdown as this probably causes small lag while users are streaming audio sources with high resolution.
