Apple Watch Series 5: An Almost Perfect Smartwatch

Apple launches the Apple Watch Series 5 with a handful of new features. And like all of its predecessors, the Series 5 is way ahead of the competition.

This year, Apple launches the Apple Watch Series 5 with a handful of new features in the same design from last year. And like all of its predecessors, the Series 5 is way ahead of the competition.

The Same Design

The Apple Watch Series 5 looks exactly like the Series 4. Users have the choice to acquire the watch in either the 44mm or the 40mm case size, depending on their wrists. With the weight of only 36 grams, wearers may not notice that it is there.

The case looks delicate but retains the durability. Even if you go for the cheapest option, which is the aluminum model, you can still have a high-end feel. The ceramic, steel, and titanium options may bring about a different look, but the wearer will not notice much of a change in the build or the texture. The aluminum can be recycled, so this choice is more environmentally-friendly too.

An Always-On Display

In comparison with Series 4, Series 5 has one extra feature, which is the always-on display. Before this year, Apple Watches have never given you the option to have time always visible, as the watch reacts so fast when you raise your wrist that the feature seems unnecessary.

However, as in some situations, it is not always possible to get the watch up close to see the content, Apple gave the Series 5 the new display function. For example, if you are working out and want to see the progress without stopping what you are doing, it is possible now with the Series 5.

Wearers have some extra choices when it comes to watch faces, and most of them can be customized. So if you care about whether the color of the numbers goes with the strap, you can change it as you like.

The Noise app on the Apple Watch Series 5 will give you a warning whenever you are in an area with too much noise, as well as how the sounds can damage your hearing ability.

The display of the watch has some drawbacks too, as nothing is perfect. When an app or a notification is opened and the watch sleeps, the time till be pushed to the top right corner, which is far from being attractive. After waking the watch up, you might have to wait for a second before performing anything.

Fitness And Health Tracking

The Apple Watch Series 5 might not be the one for a professional athlete who needs detailed reports on some specific metrics, but for an average user, its functions are more than enough.

The watch covers sports like biking, swimming, elliptical training, and yoga, providing you with data on workout-tracking, calories, steps, VO2 Max data, and hourly movement.

It is true that you have these features elsewhere, but the advantage of the Apple Watch is that the longer you wear it, the more chance it can save your life. Over time, the watch will gather more information on your health and give you patterns, helping you change your lifestyle.

The Apple Watch Series 5 does not have sleep tracking and whether this is a downer or not depends on how much you need it. Apple may add the feature in the future, but we may have to wait and see.

Your data is stored on your iPhone, under the Activity app. Whenever the app notices that you are slacking, it will give you suggestions on how to change.

The ECG monitoring is now available for most users all over the world. This is one of the features that you do not think you need until you do. What it does is notifying you of any irregularity in your heartbeats.

With the Apple Watch Series 5 and iPhone, you will have a slew of helpful information on how to improve your health. Everything is simple and straightforward.

Battery And Performance

The always-on display might raise concerns over battery life, but in reality, you will still have a full day with ease with one single charge. The watch’s battery life depends on how you use it. If you make use of the call feature often, turn on the fitness tracking or GPS, expect the cell power to be drained faster. However, a full day of use is not hard to achieve.

Many users may expect the Apple Watch Series 5 to last for more than two days, but unfortunately, it is not the case. When Apple manages to stretch the cell life, we may expect to have a sleep monitoring feature.

Overall, the Series 5 is fast, smooth, and rarely slow down, except for when you wake it up.

With WatchOS 6, you now have the App Store right on the watch, making it easier to use apps on the wearable device, saving you some time to go over to the iPhone.

Other features you have with the watch is the integration of Apple Pay, the ability to play music via either Apple Music or Spotify. You can use a pair of Bluetooth headphones to listen, make phone calls, use Siri, check the weather, and reply to emails and messages. Mindfulness is now supported by the Breath feature.

It is no exaggeration saying that Apple Watch Series 5 is the wearable device that offers the most useful features for all of users’ needs.

Price And Availability

The watch is available in India at the starting price of Rs. 40,900 for the aluminum 40mm case. Stretch your budget a little bit more and you have the aluminum 44mm option. You can find the watch on both online and offline stores.
