Amazon has officially introduced its delivery robots to the world as a move to unleash a new war in the current technology market.
These latest delivery robots manufactured by the Seattle-headquartered company is known as Scout with six wheels. Since now, instead of using human for the delivery, Amazon will leverage the workforce from robots, reducing some pesky issues caused by human workers.
Scout is designed with the same dimension as a mini cooler. Its speeds are similar to our walking speeds. In a press release, Amazon also introduces some characteristics of this product. One of the most notable things is its ability to move and avoid pedestrians, pets, or any obstacle available in its path.
The company plans to do the first trial on Snohomish County which is located in the north of Seattle, the home city of Amazon. This trial will include six Scout delivery robots to deliver the goods alongside the streets of Snohomish County. However, they will just work in daylight hours in all days of the week. Their primary mission is to move on sidewalks without colliding with other traffic participants.
In addition to Amazon, a lot of other tech companies have been developing their own technologies in this delivery sector. Unmanned delivery vehicles have gained more and more attention from both tech companies and civilians all over the world. However, with its operation scale and the massive number of loyal customers, Amazon must be one of the most remarkable names in this war.
Besides, the influence of Amazon has been confirmed on the online shopping sites. We may not wait for a long time to see the small delivery robots made by Amazon moving in front of us.
