AirPods Max Out-Of-Warranty Battery Service Costs $408 In The UK

Yesterday, Apple officially introduced its brand new wireless headphones called AirPods Max. The headphones have a starting price of $549, around Rs 40,469.

In the information page about services available for AirPods users, Apple adds in a battery service fee for AirPods Max. Accordingly, for consumers who don’t choose to purchase Apple’s AppleCares+ package for the wireless headphones, they will receive 12 months of global warranty by default.

If your AirPods Max, while still in the warranty period, requires repair or battery replacement, you won’t have to pay any fee.

However, after 1 year for the default warranty and 2 years for AppleCare+, if you encounter any problem with the battery of the AirPods Max, you will be charged up to $79 for battery replacement.

For consumers in the UK, the fee to replace the battery of the AirPods Max is up to £309, which is two-thirds of the value of the AirPods Max.

It isn’t clear if this is a typo or any other mistake, but at the time of this article, the £309 price has been corrected by Apple.

AirPods Max is Apple’s first wireless headphones. According to Apple, the headband uses a breathable mesh material to help balance the weight and reduce the pressure on the top of the user’s head. The frame of the headphones is made of steel.

In terms of sound quality, Apple says that the headphones can deliver impressive bass, precise mids, and crisp, clear highs. Apple also uses computational audio technology to provide the best audio experience. This is achieved by the H1 chip with 10 audio processing cores on each ear cup.

Each side of the ear cup can be rotated horizontally at any angle, allowing the user to adjust it for the best fit. On one earcup, Apple integrates the digital Crown knob, like the one on the Apple Watch series to support volume adjustment, change songs, receive phone calls, and activate Siri.

Similar to the AirPods Pro, AirPods Max also comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) with Transparency mode that allows users to blend the music with the sounds of their surroundings.

The headphones will automatically play music when the user puts it on and automatically stops the music when the headphones are removed or when one earcup is lifted.

Buyers can now start pre-order the AirPods Max wireless headphones from Apple’s online store. Delivery will start on December 15.
