A primary school’s head teacher has recently issued an apology to parents after someone hacked a Zoom quiz and played p.o.r.n to children.
The school in question was the Brooke Hill Primary School in the UK. The reason why this mysterious person is able to gain access to the online quiz is that a member of the staff sent the password and ID of the meeting to parents via social media.
After noticing the incident, teachers immediately broke the connection but they said some students had seen the inappropriate images.
A father said his daughter was doing a quiz and then she creamed and said she saw pictures of naked people on the screen. At first he thought she made it up but when the father came to check, what he saw was p.o.r.n on the screen.
He tried to turn them off and told the little girl to go to another room. The father said his daughter was too young to understand s.e.x but it was still a shocking experience.
Fortunately, the parents are sympathetic and do not blame the school staff for what happened.
The school planned to send the ID and password to the ParentMail but it crashed so they had no other way than sharing it on Twitter and Facebook.
Many people believed the hacker got the Zoom code there and used it to gain access to the meeting.
Sharon Milner, the head teacher, apologized all 356 pupils of the school for the incident and said they had contacted the police to find the culprit. According to her, one of the staff posted the password online but it was taken down soon after that.
Explaining this act, she said the school wanted to make sure that everyone who wanted to participate can join. However, she admitted making it public like that was an unintended mistake from the school.
Head teacher Milner assured that the goal of Brooke Hill Primary School was happiness and safety and the lesson had been learnt.
As COVID-19 pandemic calls for social distancing and lockdown, several school all over the world are using platforms like Zoom to connect students and teachers.
And when anything becomes popular online, there will be someone trying to derail the initial purposes.
