Your Future Shoes Will Be Made From Plants, Reebok Suggest

Reebok has launched an upcoming vegan performance shoe made from plants, including castor beans, eucalyptus, algae, and natural rubber. Its name is Forever Floatride Grow.

Regarding the environment, athletic shoes were primarily produced from synthetic material, as in, plastic, for example. Hence, they tend to end up in the landfill after a few years and are challenging to recycle. Furthermore, the runners are regularly advised to replace a new one every 300 miles, resulting in a shorter lifespan of shoes.

With Forever Floatride Grow, the company is determined to utilize plants instead, according to Bill Mcinnis - the Vice President of Reebok. More notably, the new performance shoe is designed with an actively developing castor beans-based midsole, and it tends to support the running foot. This product resonates with senior runners who formerly never compromised on performance. 

The further part of this new shoe is it contains biodegradable and sustainable material, which is beneficial for the environment at large. The algae foam-based sock liner, along with rubber trees-made outsole is not only breathable and secure, but it also has a positive influence on ecosystems. In 2017, the global users spent roughly 54 billion dollars on sports shoes, and running shoes overwhelmingly dominated the market in total. If the cost of per pair were comparatively $100 each on average, meaning that 643 million pairs of shoes were sold throughout the year. 

Additionally, the Forever Floatride Grow is rendered in a neutral color palette, specifically the earth-toned color. It is added by signature stripes in beige adorn the lateral, whereas a Reebok-branded tab is attached to the tongue. The shoe is finally finished off by a perfect combination of a white midsole and beige laces. Simple but stylish, actually. 

The new collection is set to hit the shelves in Fall 2020.
