Update Your Windows If You Want To Book Train Tickets In India

The IRCTC online train ticket service will no longer work on PCs running Windows XP in order to enhance security.

If your computer is still running Windows XP and you often have to buy train tickets via the website of IRCTC, you should not ignore this news.

According to the recent announcement, the IRCTC online train ticket service will not work on Windows XP in order to enhance security. This will cause a lot of inconvenience to passengers because in India there are up to 6 lakh passengers booking train tickets on IRCTC daily. The website will switch to a TLS 1.2 encrypted server.

The site will not support older operating systems, namely Windows XP

The IRCTC has posted a notice on its website to remind people that the transition is underway.

The IRCTC is transferred to a new server, which keeps the information of passengers safe and has better security. It is possible for computers running Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP to access the website www.irctc.co.in. From now on, if you want to buy a train ticket through IRCTC's online ticketing website, you must use newer OS including Windows Vista, 7, 8/8.1 or Windows 10.

Perhaps many people will wonder why the IRCTC transfers to a new server with TLS 1.2 encoding. Probably because back in November 2018, hackers have gathered information of more than 200,000 users on the website. The breach happened due to the poor security of the website. That incident has prompted the online ticket booking site manager to decide to change the server to increase its defensive ability and prevent hackers from attacking.

Besides, Windows XP has become an outdated operating system since 2014 and compared to the development of today's technology, people who are using this operating system should not delay upgrading the operating system for their PCs.

Another information about IRCTC is that they recently installed an automatic pizza machine at a station in the central Mumbai railway. Busy people will quickly get a pizza by putting money in the machine and choosing toppings. The pizza dough is available in the machine so within a few minutes the pizza will be baked hot. Passengers can enjoy a hot and fresh meal while waiting for the train to arrive.
