The second oldest person in the world, a 116-year-old French nun just recovered from COVID-19 on her 117th birthday (February 11).

According to local news agency Var-Martin, Mrs. André, whose birth name is Lucile Randon received a positive test result for COVID-19 while she was staying at a senior home in Toulon, southern France on January 16.

Mrs. André had no symptoms during the entire period of being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

When interviewed by French television station BFM TV if she was worried, Mrs. André said she was not afraid because she simply had no fear of death.

David Tavella, a spokesperson for the Sainte Catherine Labouré nursing home, where Mrs. André lives, said her body was doing great in fighting back to the disease. He added that people would still celebrate her birthday as usual in a small group to comply with COVID-19 preventing rules, reducing the risk of infection.

Mrs. André said she was not afraid because she simply had no fear of death.

Mrs. André was born in 1904 and joined a Catholic charity in 1944. She is said to be the second oldest person in the world according to the Geriatric Research Group's World Super-Middle Ages Ranking. Leading the list is Ms. Kane Tanaka, a 118-year-old from Japan.

In the past time, there have been many cases of elderly people surviving COVID-19, even those who are hundred years old. But no one is as old as Mrs. André.

She is said to be the second oldest person in the world.
