Improving healthcare services in remote areas is a long and challenging task for West Bengal state. To complete this task, the state government is planning to use high-tech drones to connect critical patients with health facilities. These drones would help to improve the speed of delivering supplies from the hospitals, such as labs blood reports.
The idea will be tested
Colonel Diptanshu Chaudhary (monitoring cell Chief Minister) said that they would conduct a study to see if drones could improve remote villages' healthcare facility or not. Everything of this project is still under consideration, and the feasibility of it will depend on the study. Healthcare is among the top priorities of the government of Mamata Banerjee.
What is it for?
He added that the main idea is to help critical patients in their "golden" 4 hours and save their lives. For example, if the doctor needs a blood report immediately, a drone could deliver it from the nearest lab. Many countries across the world are already using medical drones. These drones will also be of great help in time of natural calamities like landslides and floods, which happen quite frequently in Sundarbans.
West Bengal is leading
Diptanshu Chaudhary said that if the testing project proves to be successful; they will equip government hospitals in places like Sunderbans, Darjeeling and other villages with drones. According to the newest Enocomic Survey, Bengal is currently ahead of other states in term of agriculture, employment, school education, rural roads, and women's empowerment. So Chaudhary is sure that Bengal will also set an example with this drone project for the other states to follow, which will surely turn the page on the medical history of India.
