Walmart executives have recently introduced robotic workers to the tech world and made them available in many retail stores. This move is actually a big step forward this special tech industry. However, that isn’t apparently what the company’s employees are thinking.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Walmart employees revealed that they, as well as their customers, don’t feel comfortable and don’t know how they should do when the robotic workers are near them.
Accordingly, although executives believe that this kind of robots will help human workers have more time to conduct more important tasks, workplace automation isn’t clearly an ideal solution for workers in reality. In other words, freeing human labor power has shown unexpected results.
The US retail company Walmart has used robotic workers to scan shelves to look for mislabeled or missing products, unload trucks, as well as clean floors. As per its human workers, they will have to train these robots how to work and correct any error if any. However, according to a report from WaPo, human workers tend to think that robotic workers are replacing them.
In an interview with WaPo, a Walmart employee named Evan Tanner said, “The monotony in the store has increased a ton since we’ve gotten these robots. It’s insane.”
As per customers, many feel scared when seeing the robots moving around them. These six-foot-tall robots may be scanning and looking for missing products or suddenly appear behind them when they go downstairs.
Even worse, some customers state that they want to attack these robotic workers whenever they see them.
