You will soon have the chance to see for yourself what the International Space Station looks like with this new virtual reality experience.
The project is named Space Explorers: The ISS Experience and it is made possible by a 360-degree camera, which astronauts use to show how life and work go 400 kilometers from the surface of the Earth.

The camera was brought to the ISS as part of the 16th commercial resupply mission of SpaceX. With the help of the instrument, astronauts onboard the ISS have been able to capture everything, from the scientific experiments, daily meals to growing vegetables and working with SPHERES, a floating robot.
The astronauts will be the stars of the show as well as the cameramen. While we have to wait some more time before the project is released to the public, ISS’s dwellers said that the project provides an accurate and incredible virtual experience of life up there.
The footage sent back to Earth seems to have met the target of immersing the audiences in what it is like on the ISS. Astronaut Suni Williams, who used to work on the space station, said that the project made him feel like he was back to the ISS when he had the chance to watch some of the videos.
The next challenge for the astronauts is to film a spacewalk.
We have not had an exact releasing date for this exciting new project. According to Mia Tramz, an Emmy winner of Time, the ultimate goal of the project is education and inspiring the next generations.
The videos are shot for not only the educational and entertainment purposes but also as a test of virtual reality technology. In the future, it is possible that missions in space will be documented with this tech.
