Uri Makers Carried Out Surgical Strike On Movie Piracy

Those who tried to pirate Uri: The Surgical movie received a fake video, to check its piracy. The marketing team of the movie used the creative strategy to encourage people to watch the movie on the theatres.

The movie “Uri: The Surgical Strike” has been launched on the theatres last Friday, and many people are coming to theatres to enjoy it.

There are also some people who want to watch the movie for free. Therefore, they have been seeking for Uri's online torrents.

The production team of this Aditya Dhar film has been trying their best to prevent the movie’s prints from appearing on illegal torrent websites. However, they actually need much control to prevent someone from sneakily recording the movie illegally. Therefore, they uploaded fake videos of the film themselves on torrent sites.

The Uri’s makers have been pleasantly devious in their preventive methods. Some users successfully found the movie’s copies on illegal websites and then downloaded them. After downloading the movie file of nearly 4GB, though, they did not get this 2.5-hour Bollywood movie. The video they downloaded instead was specially shot and edited.

The video opened with the scene that the characters are planning the surgical strike. Then the actors turn their face to the camera and break the fourth wall, and tell viewers that the characters have done a surgical strike on the site and their computer. The character played by Yami Gautam says:

The movie’s makers clearly expected that their best bet at preventing people from pirating the movie would fill the market with these fake videos. Thereby, people could give up their effort of encountering the first of their fake videos.

The movie’s makers were quite convincing when releasing the fake video’s file download of up to 3.8 GB. Certainly, this video also contained the trailer and the spoof video, which encouraging viewers to go to the theatres if they want to watch this movie.
