Tech is changing all aspects of life, including warfare. During the Defence Expo 2020, Indian companies have made a name for themselves with the innovative war technologies with a highlight is AI-enable combat vehicle.
According to Colonel Arvind Kumar iDEX program director (short for Innovations for Defence Excellence), 19 startups from India have set up their stalls at the expo to exhibit their products.
One of the highlights of the show is the idea of a machine that can fight instead of soldiers and a 34-year-old innovator has decided to make it a reality.
Sooran is the result of Dennis Ebenezar’s one and a half years of work. According to him, it is the first combat vehicle of the country that can operate on battlefields and can be controlled from a distance. Sooran can help reduce the number of casualties.
The vehicle has attached a lot of attention at the expo and is the subject of debate at the event.
Ebenezar said that one can control the vehicle with a smartphone. Sooran weighs approximately 500 kg and ranks among the best war machines at the expo. The vehicle features a gun turret, which can be fired with a remote control too.
The vehicle can operate on multiple terrains and has AI onboard. Sooran is powered by a petrol engine. The three modes of the vehicle are tele-operated from a mobile control station, control using artificial intelligence, and tele-operated with remote.
Other equipments on the vehicle are controllers, high-end processors, power backup, sensors, and long-range cameras. The startup said that operators can maneuver and shoot from the vehicle through user-friendly tele-operation controls, just like when they play a video game.
According to Ebenezar, several organizations like DRDO and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited have expressed interest in the combat vehicle.
