For ages, Apple has been famous for safeguarding user privacy when unlocking an iPhone is always considered as something impossible. These privacy-centric rules also come at a cost once the authorities and police have to investigate criminals through their devices and ask for help from the company, but it declines to break the rule in most cases. However, they are said to have another way to unlock iPhone without any support from Apple.
In fact, law enforcement agencies around the world will never give up on unlocking these devices that easily. According to a report from NBC News, they may be making use of a spyware tool called GrayKey to keep a tab on criminals by tracking the passcode of iPhone on their own.
For instance, GrayKey, a product from a company called Grayshift, is capable of “guessing” most of iPhone passcodes. The company also releases another product named Hide UI for the same purposes because GrayKey often needs up to 11 hours before teasing out a result.
As for Hide UI, the software will act as a potent surveillance tool. Once it’s enabled, the police will have access to some types of data on a crime’s phone, such as what he has typed out and passcode as well.
Firstly, they must install Hide UI on an iPhone and find a way to make it return to the hands of the suspect. If successful, the app will save the passcode in the form of a text file, which can be translated into readable code with the help of GrayKey, then unlock iPhone with ease.
To your surprise, law enforcement agencies and the company have signed a “non-disclosure agreements”, so the public is unaware that both Hide UI and GrayKey have entered service for nearly a year.
