Unique Human Zoo Design With Human Locked Inside Cages

In recent decades across Asia, humans have been destroying the natural world with jungles and steppes turned into agricultural areas, cities, and resorts, etc. In many famous places, zoos were opened to lock captive wildlife for the entertainment of people.

Bill Bensley then thought what about we do the opposite way, with people being locked inside cages while animals are the spectators.

In the construction industry, Bensley is famous as the king of ideas or the cool wizard. He has designed over 100 resorts in 30 different countries. But besides that, Bensley is also known as an environmentally-friendly architect. He always put ecological factors first. And recently, he has been interested in wildlife conservation.

China covers a large area and has the largest population in the world. Ignoring the invasion of natural land for human habitation, the country has another alarming problem, which is wildlife hunting and smuggling.

For a long time, maintaining and promoting nature conservation has been a difficult task. Dozens of rare and precious animals like the Yellow-nosed langur, the dwarf musk deer, the white rhinoceros have almost fallen into extinction.

Many years ago, a Chinese customer contacted Bensley to book for a design for a zoo resort in Wu Xuyen Town, Guangdong Province, China. The king of ideas then proposed the idea to build a human zoo instead. Bensley named the project WorldWild.

After a serious discussion, Bensley then received approval from the Guangdong government to build a human zoo on a 2000-hectare-land.  In WorldWild, 95% of the land will be reserved for rare and endangered animals from all over China. They are not locked up but can move around freely.

Bensley has come up with a lot of designs for WorldWild, from villas, condominiums to castles, villas, etc. He combines inspiration from East to West, turning the land into a world of beautiful architecture among the trees.

In addition to the human zoo, Bensley also designs moving tracks for high-speed trains running around the land. He plans to have four different train lines, namely Oriental Expresso, Tasmanian tiger, Iron Horse, and Africa Queen. Each route has 7 stops and each stop has a children’s theater serving children from 10 to 15 years old.

In China, protecting wildlife is a tough fight. Chinese people are obsessed with natural medicine including drugs made from different animal parts. The traditional Chinese medicine industry worth billions of dollars and it half-relies on hunting wildlife animals.

The theater at the high-speed train stops shows films and plays about the animal world to boost the love for nature and the enthusiasm to protect the environment.

His goal is that every year, he will change the thinking of 10 million Chinese. He wants 99% of the visitors to come from the mainland.

Bensley wants to make use of natural resources for the construction of WorldWild. He takes advantage of tress to regulate the air. He also plans to grow or buy vegetables from nearby local farms to serve the visitors. The use of plastic materials is very limited. From the comb to the toothbrush, everything is made of bamboo.

At the moment, WorldWild has moved into year 5 in phase I which covers 8 years. The human zoo is expected to open in 2023 and will welcome visitors from everywhere around China.
